Who We Are - Where & When We Meet We are Vacaville Kairos Advisory Council We serve the California Medical Facility In January we meet in person on a Saturday.  We combine our January council meeting with either a religious retreat or an annual planning meeting.  Otherwise, we have online Zoom meeting on the last Monday night of the month, the exceptions being May, October and December when the meetings are earlier in the month.  The online Zoom meetings start at 7pm and usually running two hours. Our Mission

We serve to share the transforming love, forgiveness and everlasting peace of our Lord, Jesus Christ with inmates at the California Medical Facility to impact their spiritual lives and well-being so that they will become loving and productive members of the institution, and to serve as examples of the Light of Christ within the confines of the prison.

What is required to get Involved?

There are many opportunities for you to serve in this ministry for we need your help. All that is required is the desire to serve the Lord.  This just means you have a willing heart and are open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  That enables you to play a crucial role in God's ministry of Changing Hearts, Transforming Lives and Impacting the World.  Here's some basic information to help you "become involved."

Join Kairos Inside at California Medical Facility

Kairos Inside is composed of well-organized and well-trained volunteer teams of men and women from the communities surrounding an institution who present an introductory 3-day weekend, described as a short course in Christianity. This ecumenical team of volunteers - both clergy and laypersons - works in cooperation with the Chaplain who carefully selects up to 42 inmate leaders to attend. Well organized follow-up is part of this program.

Join us as either as an Inside or Outside Team Member

Kairos volunteers come from all walks and strata of life.  We all share a desire to follow Christ's admonition of Matthew 25:36, "I was in prison and you visited me."  If you feel God's call to minister to the incarcerated, be a part of a Kairos team.  Not all team members serve inside correctional institutions.  The inside volunteers are supported throughout the Kairos Weekends by a group of faithful women who pray and support the inside volunteers in many ways in the course of each Kairos Weekend.

Be a Support Volunteer

Each Kairos retreat weekend has opportunities for outside support.  For example, this can include bearing witness to the power of the Holy Spirit as you attend the closing ceremony inside the prison’s chapel and preparing meals for the inside team.  Of course, you can devote a portion of the weekend by signing up on the weekend Prayer Vigil for the candidates, team members, and the institutional staff members.  Please consider encouraging your church's Sunday school classes to make “Hands of Love.”  In such instances instructions will be provided.

You can do so by mailing a check payable to CMF Vacaville Kairos and send it to CMF Vacaville Kairos at P.O. Box 2866, Dublin, CA. 94568.

Alternatively, you can visit the Kairos of California website at www.kairosofcalifornia.org.  Scroll down to and click on “Pledge and Donate.”  Next click on DONATE NOW CLICK&PLEDGE box, and fill out the top three sections.   In the Gift Details section, drop down the Kairos of California – General Use location.  Click “CMF Vacaville.”  After you complete the remaining details, click on “Submit Donation” to complete the transaction.
